If I Could Sail the Sea

If I could sail the sea

Few other places I’d wanna be

To see what is out there for someone to see

Just the wind the waves and me

Just the wind the waves and me

Just the wind the waves and me

Not a soul to be seen just the lops and the swells

Right out of a tale an old fisherman tells

The salt on the breeze as the sails heave a sigh

One eye on the clouds as the free seabirds cry

Chorus

The time it has come for the sun to go down

Just the naked horizon to be seen all around

Red sky in the night is the sailor’s delight

Then the diamonds of heaven take over the night

Chorus

Well the wind it went down with the sun’s final shine

Just drifting around in the silence and brine

The lantern’s lone flame has not much of a chance

And I’ll drift into slumber regarding its dance

Chorus

Island Girl

As I was walking slowly, down the road back to my home

I ran right into Mary, a girl I used to know

I asked her if she knew me, she smiled a little smile

Simply kissed me on the cheek. And we walked another mile

Chorus

Oh my Island girl she loves me

Since she can’t remember when

And my Island girl I love her too

As long at least since then

Yes my Island girl she loves me

I’m so glad I found this pearl

‘cause no one brings me comfort

like my lovely island girl

Only thought about her as I was homeward bound

I took her out for dancing I took her on the town

I came home for my Island girl, no more for to roam

Married her and settled down, we made ourselves a home

Chorus

I had been so far away, she’d waited home for me

Loved me since she’d just turned six, we grew up by the sea

We made a life together, made ourselves two boys

Raised them in our little town Far from city noise

Chorus
